Brighterion named “Best Use of Payments Data or AI in Financial Services” at Emerging Payments Awards

San Francisco, October 16, 2019

Brighterion, a Mastercard company and leading artificial intelligence and machine learning platform, today announced that it has been named “Best Use of Payments Data or AI in Financial Services” at this year’s Emerging Payments Awards in London, UK.

Brighterion was recognized for its unique AI powered by Smart Agents, which detects and prevents payment and other types of first-party fraud in real-time. By providing self-learning capabilities that overcome the limitations of legacy machine learning solutions, Brighterion technology creates personalized, adaptable profiles that automatically update and refine with each transaction. Its Smart Agents connect with cardholders, merchants or terminals, and build individual profiles based on usage and behaviors. The platform provides unprecedented behavioral insights such as the spending behavior of customers and the constantly evolving tactics used by fraudsters.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by the Emerging Payments Awards,” said Sudhir Jha, Mastercard senior vice president and head of Brighterion. “This win is testament to our commitment and continued efforts to reducing and preventing fraud, while also minimizing friction for customers and future-proofing payments security.”

Now in its 12th year, the Emerging Payments Association award ceremony honors the latest fintech innovations and innovators. More than 200 companies from across the globe enter the award program each year via 20 different categories. Winners are selected based on the significant advances they have made in how the world pays today.

In addition to its Emerging Payments Awards win, last month, Brighterion revealed how its platform is delivering powerful anti-money laundering technology, fraud and credit risk monitoring to WorldPay, the world’s largest acquirer that processes more than 20 billion transactions each year in 150 countries, using 130 different currencies. And recently, Brighterion partnered with Elavon, a merchant processor and subsidiary of U.S. Bank, to better protect e-commerce transactions and support the payment needs of more than one million merchants in over 30 countries.
